Movie review: 1987 When The Day Comes

I like it! First I watched it because Kim Taeri starred in this movie, but then I really liked it because it was definitely my cup of tea. 1987: When The Day Comes is a patriotic historical movie released in early 2018, telling about June Democracy Movement in South Korea (or popularly known as June Struggle) that generated mass protests from June 10 to June 29, 1987 (source: wikipedia). The demonstration forced the ruling government to hold a fair and democratic election. It started when Park Jong-cheol, a SNU student activist, died after being interrogated by official authorities because he refused to reveal the whereabouts of his fellow activists. This sparked many questions from reporters as his caused of death was said to be shock. He was a healthy 22yo man before this happened. The Seoul Office Prosecutor was forced to sign the permit to cremate the corpse as soon as possible, but he refused since it’s not 8 hours after death and his family needed to see him for the last time. The Prosecutor asked for an autopsy and the result showed that he died because of waterboarding techniques during his interrogation. Doctors were also asked to keep quiet but one of the doctors leaked it to a reporter when they accidentally met in the toilet. The issue blew up fast; people started to question about it. Authorities were told to find and arrest Kim Jeong-nam, the leader of democratic movement at that time so that the truth about Park Jong-cheol’s death would never be known. The story continued on how they would reveal the truth by the help of the prisoner guards, civilians, student activists, reporters, prosecutor, etc since this case involved higher authorities. There’s also Lee Han-yeol, another student activist from Yonsei University, who recruited people for the movement through his school student club. During the protests, he was seriously injured when a tear bomb hit the back of his head. His condition provoked another protest in the following weeks, which resulted in an agreement for direct presidential election by the Republic of Korea in June 29, 1987. Through 1987 I learnt a lot about Korea’s history as it was based on true story but still you need to confirm for the historical accuracy by browsing articles ok? If you are interested in history like me, then this movie is really recommended! All of these actors are Chungmuro movie veterans so no doubt their acting are the best. Enjoy!

Movie review: Little Forest (리틀 포레스트)

At first, this movie was not in my list but I decided to give it a try because of the positive reviews I read about it. Little Forest was said to be a healing movie, made you felt relax and peaceful. It's released in early 2018, starring Kim Taeri as Hyewon, a girl who failed in her university exam and decided to go back to her father's hometown. She has two bestfriends: Jin Kijoo as Eunsook, a banker and Ryu Junyeol as Jaeha, now a farmer. Hyewon was born in Seoul but then moved back to her father's hometown when he was sick and stayed till his death. She and her mother continued staying there but one day when she just came back from school, her mother disappeared without saying anything. Because of it, she hated her mother so much and learnt how to survive alone in the changing four seasons. Studied hard to pass the national exam, Hyewon was eagered to move to Seoul as soon as possible. She was back to her hometown again when her university entrance exam failed but her boyfriend passed. Tried to adjust to village life, she planted, harvested, and cooked by herself and didnt tell anything to her friends. Not to mention how her foods were awesome and portrayed aesthetically. It felt like she was having a vacation and taught us how to cook with her recipe. I was really amazed when she cooked spaghetti with some kind of flowers; in another scene she fried the flowers to make it looked like tempura. It definitely made people wanted to move to rural hometown and lived a simple life. Her friendship was another thing to admire: both her bestfriends are always by her side. They were also the one telling her not to run from her problems but she needed to settle it. Some of you may have known Kim Taeri from The Handmaiden which I hadnt watched (so dont ask me about it) but reviews were mostly positive. She's the rising new actress because of her versatility in acting. Currently Im watching her drama Mr. Sunshine and all I can say is it's really awesome! If you hadnt watched any of her works, this one is a must try. Little Forest teaches us a lot about life, probably one of my favorites because the storyline flows naturally and every scenes are just so beautiful.

Movie review: The Swindlers (꾼)

Here another movie review again after I went on hiatus watching movies since earlier this year. It’s a korean movie released in the end of 2017, starring Hyun Bin, Yoo Ji-tae, Bae Seong-woo, Park Sung Woong, and Nana called as The Swindlers. I watched this in flight on my way to Japan. It started with Hwang Jisung (Hyun Bin), a conman, who was searching for his father’s killer. His father was a conman too who worked with gang members to falsify their passport information. One day his father was found dead; he felt suspicious as his father was working on something secretly the day before and told him he would retire after finishing it. Because of his job (he falsified passport, used other people's face as masks, etc), Hwang went on jail and met Prosecutor Park Hee Soo who asked for his help to find another conman, Jang Du-chil (Heo Sung Tae). Jang has committed huge fraud and was rumored dead, but someone said he saw him alive. Hwang was also tailing the same man because he felt Jang has a connection with his father’s death cause. Prosecutor Park’s team consisted of Go Seok-dong, Choonja, and Ahn Se-ha together with Hwang tried to track down Jang Du-chil whereabouts through Kwak Seung-gun (Park Sung Woong), who was his righthand man. Hwang was told to befriend with Kwak and made a business agreement so that they could tail on him meeting Jang. Prosecutor Park has his own motive: he wanted to kill Hwang after all his tasks had finished. Hwang also has an ulterior motive: finding his father’s killer. This movie really gave a big twist in the end; I was stunned for a while thinking about how it can end like this. You might find there's no connection between Prosecutor Park and Hwang but it was wrong at all. Pay attention to the details in the movie because at first I found the storyline was quite confusing. The movie's vibe was similar to The Thieves (2012) so if you like the latter, you might like this one too. I liked the way they concluded everything in the end as sometimes korean movies didnt have a great ending. Just give it a try!
Note: I've done other movie and drama reviews before but because I changed my blog url a while ago, the links werent connected. in the left side of this blog you can see 'LABELS' section and just click movie, drama, or review. Thanks!

Be aware of depression, the silent killer.

This week has been a tough one for kpop fans, as one of the most popular boybands' main vocalist passed away on Monday. SHINee's Jonghyun was found unconscious in an apartment and later declared death, which believed to have committed suicide by burning coal briquettes. I was so surprised when I saw the news, as I knew SHINee was still active at the moment. SM is known to be one of the big 3 music companies and has many of the most successful groups in kpop history. You named it: TVXQ, Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee, EXO. Who would know one day one of their singers would die in such a young age by commiting suicide? SHINee was the only SM groups with complete original members till now and no legal battle dramas, except for Onew who had a scandal recently. What makes me even more surprised is that I've been watching them since they debutted in 2008 as it's at the same time when TVXQ released their most popular albums Mirotic. It's like watching the babies grew and then boom, something happened. As a kpop fan myself, I can relate how gloomy and sad the fandom is right now. Jonghyun have just had his concert in December 10. Nobody knew that all these times depression has been killing him inside. My thesis for undergraduate degree was about depression; this is why I always have a soft spot for this topic. He left a suicide note and you could see how desperate he was to end his life because he wanted to be free. Depression is a silent killer. You wont know because a depressed person tends to not telling others about what or how they feel. In this case, he has searched for a psychiatrist but it didnt help him either. He chose to end his life. Even until today, I still cant believe that he's gone.

Below is the suicide note Jonghyun left to his friend, Dear Cloud's 9, originally in Korean and has been translated to English as accurately as possible.
Please dont read this if you are easily triggered.
Source: Koreaboo

I am broken from the inside.
The depression that slowly gnawed away at me has finally swallowed me whole.
And I could not defeat it.
I detested myself.
I grabbed my disjointed memories and yelled at them to pull themselves together but was met with no response.
If I can’t help myself breathe properly it’s better to stop breathing at all.
I asked myself who was responsible for me.
Only I.
I was utterly alone.
It’s easy to talk about the end.
It’s hard to actually end.
I lived until now because of that difficulty.
I told myself I wanted to run.
Yes, I wanted to run.
From myself.
From you.
I asked who was there.
It was me. It was me again. And it was me yet again.
I asked why I kept losing my memories. It was because of my personality. I see. So It’s all my fault in the end. I wanted people to notice but no one did. They’ve never even met me so of course they don’t know I exist.
I asked why they live. They just live, just live on.
If you ask why I die I would answer I am exhausted.
I have suffered and pondered. I never learned how to turn this exhausting pain into bliss.
Pain is just that, pain.
They scolded me not to do this.
Why? Why can’t I even end things the way I want to?
They told me to find out why I hurt.
I know too well. I hurt because of me. It’s all my fault and all because I’m lacking.
Doctor, is this what you wanted to hear?
No. I have done nothing wrong.
When the gentle voice blamed my personality I thought, ‘damn being a doctor is easy.’
It’s so odd that it hurts so much. People who have it worse than me live fine, people who are weaker than me carry on fine. Maybe that’s not true. There’s no one alive that’s got it worse than me or is weaker than me.
But I should live on anyway.
I keep asking myself why I should hundreds of times and it’s not for my own good. It’s for yours.  Please don’t say a word if you don’t understand.
Find out why I’m hurting? I told you why. Is it so wrong to hurt so much because of that, do I need to have a more dramatic reason? A more specific reason?
I told you already. Were you not listening? Things you can overcome don’t scar you for life.
Clashing with the world was never meant for me.
The life of fame was never meant for me.
That’s all the reason why it hurts. Because I’m famous. Why did I choose this. It’s so funny.
It’s a wonder I lasted so long.
What can I say. Just tell me I’ve done well. That this is good enough.
That I’ve worked hard. Even if you can’t smile don’t fault me on my way.
You did well, you worked hard. Goodbye.
— SHINee’s Jonghyun

You did well, Jonghyun. Rest in peace.

Coass life: Another hello, another goodbye.

Finally reaching the end of my fifth department, Dermatovenereology. It's been one wonderful month in this department; I like how it's not packed with night shift yet you still can learn so much. Dermatologists only need anamnesis and skin lesion description as their diagnostic tools but there's a lot to learn. Not to mention how good looking the dermatologists are. I start to have interest in this department though I still dont know which one I will choose in the end. A few days ago, Indonesia had just celebrated the National Day and it received the best gift ever: Olympic gold medal from Badminton Mixed Doubles! The winner was my favorite XD of all time, Tontowi Ahmad and Liliyana Natsir. This was the second time they competed as doubles for the Olympics; the first was in 2012 but they didnt win any medal. Rio 2016 was Liliyana's third time competing for Olympic. She was a silver medallist with Nova Widianto in the same category and finally this year she can prove to everyone that she's still one of the best badminton player in the history. One of Indonesian tv channels aired the match live and I've been having nausea even few hours before the match started. I thought they would face China's doubles for the final either Zhang/Zhao or Xu/Ma. Turned out they beat Zhang/Zhao in the semifinals with straight set and Xu/Ma was defeated by the unseeded Malaysian doubles. I've had my eyes on badminton since a few years ago; in my opinion the matches are always more interesting compared to other sports. Thankyou Tontowi/Liliyana for bringing the gold medal back. Definitely the best 17th August Indonesian has ever had!

Material success cannot be a dream.

Yesterday I watched Infinite Challenge episode 469 which title was "Erasing Bad Memories" and found it very inspirative. It started with each member (Yoo Jaesuk, Haha, Park Myungsoo, Jung Junha, and Kwanghee) had each counselor and they could share with them what their worries were. This time the mission is they have to give advice to other people. Before doing the mission, all of them gathered in one room and asked for advice from the professionals. They discussed a lot; they talked about how suicide rate has been increasing in Korea and also Korean strict work ethics. It's not normal to be different; you should study really hard so that you can get a job with stable salary or else the society will doom you.  I remembered when I travelled to Korea four years ago, I asked the tour guide about Korean education system whether it's similar to the one portrayed in movies or dramas and he said yes. School starts at 7 or 8am then they study till 10pm and continue with courses till 12am. When they are about to graduate high school and prepare for university entrance exam, they study even crazier. The better university you enroll in, the higher possibility for you to get a job in high profile companies such as Samsung, LG, etc. When you fail the exam, people will judge you as a fail person and this leads to depression. This is also why Korea has one of the highest suicide rates. Believe it or not, but it's true. Another topic that I liked was when Yoon Taeho, the creator of 'Misaeng", talked about how people often mistaken occupation for dream. I thought about it and it's true. When you were young and someone asked you what your dream was, usually we would answer with "I want to be a doctor, teacher, astronaut, musician, blablabla." Now that I think about it, since I was young my dream is to travel around the world. I like to interact with other people from different countries, experience different cultures, taste different food, and have new experiences. Ofc I'll try to make my dreams come true. After the counseling session, the team set tents in various places in Seoul. The counseling session was such a touching one; we could see each person is actually vulnerable and deep inside they had memories they wanted to erase because they regret about it. Watching this episode makes me think a lot whether I have any memories I want to erase.

"I hope people stop mistaking occupation for dreams." - Yoon Taeho

It's February YAY

Chinese New Year is coming in three days and Im excited (but not that much)! Back then in CNY Eve we always eat together with my cousins but since most of them are medical students and they are having clinical rotation now, it's a bit difficult to gather everyone. This year is also my first time not to celebrate CNY with my younger brother; he's back to Jakarta for study. Anyway, Im happy that Im back to my hometown after being stuck in Jogja more than one month when I was supposed to enjoy my holiday because I need to settle down the things for my graduation and we also had OSCE in the mid of January.

Highlight of my 2015

It's the last day of the year. I still cant believe how time flies so fast. I have experienced many things this year; I can say this is one of the best year in my life. Tomorrow will be 2016 and of course I need to make a new resolution and try to achieve the things I have not done this year.
Highlight of the year:
1. I managed to spend Chinese New Year with my family and had vacation with my relatives since it's a long weekend (if Im not mistaken)
2. My mom came to the town again for my birthday; I cant be thankful enough for always having mom here during my birthday for 3 years straight.
3. I watched T1ST0RY in Bangkok! Im a hardcore TVXQ fan and I was sooooo happy finally one of my dreams came true. Last year I also got to watch JYJ's concert in Hongkong.
4. My first time going to Europe and travelling alone! I was afraid at first but then everything changed since I went to Prague. I travelled alone without any knowledge about the city and internet connection, only based on the map I got from the hotel I stayed.
5. A month exchange in Budapest. This should be my best month of the year! To be honest, when they announced I would be doing an exchange in Budapest, I was scared at first. I didnt even know where Budapest was since it was really far from Indonesia and whether I would be able to survive there in my own. Turned out everything was fantastic; I met friends from all around the world and learnt a lot about the habit and culture. Budapest is definitely the most beautiful city I've ever visited. God always knows what's the best for us right?
6. Song Triplets is my pill of happiness for this year. In the past few years whenever I had problems, I watched TVXQ concerts and videos or listening to their songs. This year I have moved on to Song Triplets; they are really cute that I always forget my problems when I watched their videos. I even bought their calendar after trying so hard to find it. They will be leaving the show next February; everyone is sad about it but that's the best for them. They are so mature for their age and their brotherhood is just awesome. Please grow up healthily and happily ok Daehan Minguk Manse^^

And this will be my resolution for next year:
- A slimmer and healthier me (always)
- Graduated in May 2016
- Study hard play hard
- Travelling again (my checklist would be Iceland, Japan, or America)
- Good health and happiness for my family

Thank you for everything that happened in 2015 and Im excited to see what 2016 will give me. See ya 2016!

The last block exam.

Happy Mother's Day to every mom in the world! Im not the type who stay close to my mom all the time but I try to say I love my mom (and my dad of course) whenever I can. People say you live everyday and die once so express your true feeling to your most loved one. Today marks the end of my academic year. I had my very last block exam this morning and the only thing left is my practical exam before I enter the clinical rotation. It's been a bittersweet journey for me in these 3.5 years studying about medicine; I have a love-hate relationship with it. Flashback to the first time I arrived in this city, feeling amazed and confused at the same time because the culture was so different with the one I had in my hometown. I cried a lot in my first semester; homesick was getting worse and worse. Slowly I started to adapt to this society, even though till now Im still not 100% comfortable living here. I dont know why; there's just something missing compare to my hometown. Im still trying to adapt till now so that I can get my truly comfort zone. It's 3 weeks more to the practical exam and Im supposed to study but the feeling is not here yet. You know the energy you have when the exam is right around the corner is always the best; you can study and exercise effectively and sufficiently lol I hope I can get a good result for my exam and proceed to the clinical rotation smoothly. Let's pray for the best. Aza aza fighting!!

Juice Cleanse Day 2

So in the second day I also got 6 bottles consisted of 5 bottles of juices and 1 bottle raw almond mylk but because they made a little mistake yesterday, I got a free almond mylk so it's 7 bottles for today! Started a bit late this morning, I drank my first bottle at almost 11am and continued the second bottle at 12pm. The rest was consumed with 2 hours interval for each bottle. What I had today:
  1. Detox Hero (Booster): kale, cilantro, parsley, lime, white dragon (11am)
  2. Workout Buddy (Energize): carrot, honeydew, cinnamon (12pm)
  3. Flat Belly (Fuel): kale, banana, strawberry, lemon (2pm)
  4. Green tea raw almond mylk (Cleans) (4pm)
  5. Detox Hero (Restore): kale, cilantro, parsley, lime, white dragon (6pm)
  6. Red Roar (Rejuve): red and white dragon, beet, banana, lime (8pm)
Today was not as hard as yesterday; I felt fresh and energized when I woke up. I had my morning walk for around an hour and drank a lot of water. Since they delivered the juice later than yesterday and I didnt eat anything, I had presyncope this morning around 2-3x. It scared me; I thought I would faint if the juices didnt come at the right time. It was my fault that I didnt consult first with them that I had hypotension and I didnt think the side effect could be very severe. I felt good after my first bottle and continued drinking the rest without any problem. I didnt even think about food as much as I did yesterday. The Detox Hero wasnt really bad; there's no difference in the ingredients but it just tasted better than the one I had yesterday. Of course my favorite was green tea raw almond mylk. I love everything about green tea! The second day was much better and I didnt regret for joining this program. Now I know I cant really handle consuming only liquids throughout the day. I dont think I'll do the juice detox again in the future since the number of presyncope I had in these 2 days scared me. It's better to drink juice everyday to get maximum result. It's been a great experience for me and finally Im done~

Juice Cleanse Day 1

It's 12/12/2015 today! I did nothing, just relaxing all day long and enjoyed what I can enjoy at the moment. Anyway, I join a 2-day juice cleansing program for today and tomorrow. I try it because Im curious since people said it's good for health (cleaning body toxins) but based on what I browsed, there's pros and cons about it. Actually our body also has its own mechanism to clean the toxins.
The advantage of doing juice detox:
  1. Increase body metabolism
  2. Add your stamina
  3. Increase body's immune system
  4. Soft and moisturised skin
  5. Decrease body weight
Basically I ate nothing today, only drank juices. They gave me 5 bottles of juices and 1 bottle of raw almond mylk. There's a number on the cap of the bottle so you know which one you should drink at the desired time. They said I can eat boiled potato or something like that but I refrained myself from food. What I have for today:
  1. Detox Hero (Booster): kale, cilantro, parsley, lime, white dragon (10am)
  2. Ginger Bliss (Energize): orange, lime, white dragon, ginger (12pm)
  3. Flat Belly (Fuel): kale, banana, strawberry, lemon (2pm)
  4. Plain raw almond mylk (Cleans) (4pm)
  5. Detox Hero (Restore): kale, cilantro, parsley, lime, white dragon (6pm)
  6. Very Berry Good (Rejuve): strawberry, blueberry, cranberry, banana, lime (8pm)
This morning I have a 40-minute walk and started drinking my first bottle at 10am. Usually in the morning I have a bottle of yoghurt drink and eat 1-2 times a day. Skipping meal is not really a problem for me. Since last week, I joined healthy catering for lunch and that made me reduced my meal portion. I thought this detox would not be very hard but I was wrong. Maybe because I was thinking about food for the whole day. I drank a bottle every 2 hours and it helped to reduce my hunger because whenever I felt hungry then it's the time to drink juice again. I hated detox hero; it was all vegetables and no fruit at all (you can imagine how it tasted)! The rest was my favorite of course. I used to drink juices everyday for 6 years back in my hometown. I think to get soft and moisturised skin you need to drink juice everyday; it's not a result you can get by overnight. The only problem I had today was I suffered 4x almost blackout, probably because of my hypotension. I was a bit surprised to know that I experienced presyncope 4x today where usually I seldom had it unless I didnt eat. It's better to reduce your meal portion prior to starting the detox and stick with that meal plan even a few days after the program. Drink a lot of water during the detox is also very important. Besides the presyncope, I didnt have any concern except I felt a bit less energised today. The reaction is not always the same in each person since everybody has different rate of metabolism. This kind of thing is a new experience for me and Im curious how my body will respond for the second day. Ciao!

T1ST0RY.

It's been exactly a week since the concert. I still left my heart in Bangkok. I am a Yoochun stan for almost 8 years and now I start to like Yunho. I was allowed to watch this because accidentally my uncle and aunt planned to go to Bangkok that weekend and my parents too so I requested this. I didnt hope much for it; the chance was 50:50 but my parents granted my wish! To be honest, this concert was even better than the JYJ concert I watched last year. First, finally Im part of Red Ocean in real life!! This has been my dream since a long time ago. My dream was crashed in JYJ concert because there were so many individual stans resulting in a Rainbow Ocean. It's such a shame that they did that. Second, Homin is better in dancing (Im sorry) and they were so energetic that I kept screaming during the whole concert. My hands were sore the next day because I held and shook my lightstick for the whole concert like for 3++ hours. Third, my seatplan was in the third floor and many people said I just can see them in a very very small view but turned out it was far better than I expected. I think my seat at JYJ concert was worse despite paying a bit expensive than this one. The best part was I took pics and recorded so many fancams! The security in my area was not that strict made me possible to do it freely. I also met many new friends; Im happy that through TVXQ we can know each other. In the past, I supported all five and strongly denied the fact that they had separated. Now I realise maybe they are happier in this way; both sides can achieve what they cant in the past. Even I have to wait for more than 2 years, I will still wait for you guys. Thank you for making one of my dreams come true. Please keep continuing to be TVXQ. #alwayskeepthefaith

Medley: 믿어요/My Little Princess/You Only Love/Tonight/Paradise/She/You're My Melody

Red Ocean!! #proud

The fanproject during "Always With You": we held up the banner written  난 기다리는 거 잘해 which means "We are good at waiting". This project was made because Yunho will enlist very soon and we will wait for both of them to return.
Yunho cried in the end T_T he kept bowing to the fans in every side of the stage after seeing the project made by us

Fighting!

Writing really effective in relieving stress. I was very disappointed yesterday but after blogging I feel relieved. People might be sad sometimes; however we should not let negativity affect our life. When someone is lonely, it's the best to find something that can make you happy and forget your problems (in a positive way). As for me, I usually watch dramas and update about TVXQ but now Song Triplets totally take all of my attention away from TVXQ lol Luckily it all worked yesterday, and Im going back to my normal mood. Fighting to myself!!

Very much disappointed.

I am so disappointed today. I was supposed to enjoy this weekend but all are ruined because of an accident. I need to go out of my social life for a while.

Healthy lifestyle.

Hi! Today I'll share some diet tips I've been doing for the past few days and because of this I've lost about 1kg this week. This is only a personal opinion so if you think this is not good then dont do it. Im thinking of cutting some of my weight because my BMI is only a few more points to the overweight category for Asian people which is >22.9.

What is BMI?
Body mass index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight that applies to adult men and women. There are lots of BMI calculator in google but you can count it manually.

So to maintain my weight and reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, I try to adapt a healthy lifestyle starting from last week. Diet doesnt mean you dont eat anything at all because if you lose too much weight suddenly, you will suffer from yoyo effect (Basal Metabolic Rate back to normal after 4 months). It's the best to lose weight gradually so it will stay for a long time.

What I eat during the day:
Morning: white bread with kaya jam, 2 bananas
Mid-morning: If I feel hungry, I eat 1-2 bananas
Lunch: Aglio olio pasta (homemade) or white bread with kaya jam or steamed chicken
Mid-day: Hungry? 1-2 bananas again
Dinner: Normally I dont eat dinner
I drink a lot of water during the day. From what I read, pasta is better than rice because of the high-fibre carbs while rice contains lots of carbs. If there's no bread, you can change it to whole-grain bread. Bananas also help in maintaining a good digestion for people who suffers from constipation. It's also important to reduce fried foods since it contains lot of fats.

Here's some explanation of fibre. (source: www.nhs.uk)
Soluble fibre
Soluble fibre can be digested by your body. It may help to reduce the amount of cholesterol in your blood. If you have constipation, gradually increasing sources of soluble fibre – such as fruit and vegetables, oats and golden linseeds – can help soften your stools and make them easier to pass.
Foods that contain soluble fibre include:
  • oats, barley and rye
  • fruit, such as bananas and apples
  • root vegetables, such as carrots and potatoes
  • golden linseeds
Insoluble fibre Insoluble fibre can't be digested. It passes through your gut without being broken down and helps other foods move through your digestive system more easily. Insoluble fibre keeps your bowels healthy and helps to prevent digestive problems. If you have diarrhoea, you should limit the amount of insoluble fibre in your diet.
Good sources of insoluble fibre include:
  • wholemeal bread
  • bran
  • cereals
  • nuts and seeds (except golden linseeds)
Eating foods high in fibre will help you feel fuller for longer. This may help if you are trying to lose weight.
If you need to increase your fibre intake, it's important that you do so gradually. A sudden increase may make you produce more wind (flatulence), leave you feeling bloated and cause stomach cramps.
It's also important to make sure you drink plenty of fluid. You should drink approximately 1.2 litres (six to eight glasses) of fluid a day, or more while exercising or when it's hot.

Hope all of these help and let's have a healthy lifestyle!
