Drama review: The Master's Sun (주군의 태양)

Actually I've watched this last year during its airing but too bad I didnt have time to do the recap because I forgot about it and then moved on with new dramas. This is considered as one of my best dramas in 2013, airing at the same time as Good Doctor. I didnt even finished Good Doctor because I think starting in the mid the story went worse and I didnt get the hype like the first part of the story. The main lead here is Joo Jong Won (acted by So Ji Sub), a CEO of Kingdom who owns many hotels and department stores in Korea and his love interest is Tae Gong Sil (acted by Gong Hyo Jin), a woman with a good life until she got into an accident few years back and after waking from coma, she can see ghosts. Coincidentally, she met Joong Won and when she touched him, the ghosts are all disappeared. Because of this, she does everything that can make her get close to Joong Won who can prevent her from seeing ghosts. Joong Won himself is also a complicated character; he has a painful past which makes him distrust people and suffer from dyslexia. As you might have guessed, this will all lead to a loveline. I should say Gong Hyo Jin is really good at portraying her character; she looks absolutely worse and creepy and I like it. She's one of my favorite actress because she can pull off any character give to her with her own style, not to mention Pasta which is also my favorite drama. This is also the very first time for So Ji Sub acting in a romcom so people did anticipate much and of course he didnt disappoint us. He has trademark gestures and words which can make me laugh everytime I see it. There are so many reasons why I love this drama: the creepy and ghost-themed plot, pairing of Gong Hyo Jin and So Ji Sub which make them ridiculously good, a little mystery, and of course a good OST. OSTs have always been an important factor for me to enjoy the drama because when you watch a good drama with good storyline and pairing but accompany with a bad OST, everything will be ruined. Personally, recommend this one to Good Doctor. 주군의 태양 짱!
PS: They also have so many great poster photos kyaaaaa!!

Synopsis:
Joo Joong-won (So Ji Sub) is the stingy and greedy CEO of Kingdom, a conglomerate that includes a major department store and hotel. He meets the gloomy Tae Gong Sil (Gong Hyo Jin), who started seeing ghosts after an accident. Their lives take a new turn as they work together to deal with the terror and sadness brought about by the spirits, while delving into a kidnapping incident in Joong Won's past.

my favorite scene !! *faint*

Cycle x Cycle.

This block has been going for a week and I feel it's not as interesting as the previous one. To be honest, sometimes I just bored with the cycle because every 6 weeks we start again with something similar as what we have done. The worst part is I still cant control my habit of watching dramas and reading novels although my addiction to k-pop has far way decreased. My drama list is getting longer from what I've predicted; at first I want to watch Emergency Couple, Three Days, and God's Gift. Suddenly Im hooked into Bride of The Century starring Lee Hong Ki and Yang Jin Sung which is ridiculously good and I add this to my list too. After that, now Im bored of Emergency Couple because it's a few more episodes to the end but why hasnt the OTP gone back together? I just dont want the writer to push everything to the end and make a nonsense ending. Still only Bride of The Century and Three Days are on my list, mostly because Three Days stars Yoochun as the main lead and you know why Im watching it. Going to do a recap after those dramas end. Ciao! xx

Book review: Amazing Guardian (Ran Orihara) (1 & 2)

At first I thought these books were translated from the Japanese novels but turned out it was locals haha Im being fooled! Nope dont make it wrong I always love local novels and Im one of those hardcore readers. This series contain 2 books and I've been eyeing them since last week before my exam was done. The story tells about Hogosha Gakuen, a high school in Tokyo suburb. There's a legend that has been kept for 17 years and still going on which is called "Guardian". Guardian protects the school quietly but no one knows who they are. They have a website where Hogosha's students can send email of their request and they will make it come true. As long as they are students of Hogosha and they send an email when they're at school, the email will be considered to be fulfilled. So there are these guys: Asa, Naito, Kaze, and Izumi who are students' council members and they're considered as the highest hierarchy besides the headmaster. In the morning they are just students but at night they're the Guardian. I find this book so cool by the way the writer describes the characters. I have never met books like these where the stories are purely told in a very Japanese way. The cover is drawn like a comic one which is also another plus point for me: comic-like novel. I love it when they called Asa as Princess Asa when she is at school but nobody actually knows in fact she's a super bad-tempered girl since she always acts elegantly in front of others. Naito is also my favorite: he is cool and charismatic and Asa's childhood friend. I can sense something is going on between Asa and Naito but too bad Asa is not sensitive HAHA this book is my recommended one for March and I hope you'll love this one like I do. Adios!

After study hard, play hard.

Life's been so good that exam has over. My eager to blog has come out again with no burden of having exam. Yesterday after exam, I and my group decided to go to Candi Ratu Boko, one of Jogja's tourism place which was close to Prambanan. I've been there once, but it's been like almost 2 years ago. It's cloudy and raining for a while when we reached there. Luckily we managed to capture the orange sky because of the sunset though it's not clear enough.

Manse manse

March is here and I've got lots of friends who celebrate their birthday this month. My daily life is still the same, but I enjoy this block a lot. It tells about how adolescence behave and why those things happen. It's also been raining for a whole week and pretty good that all the ashes are swept away. Routinities have been back as they were before, not to mention that this block is going to finish in 2 weeks. I think as time flies, my craving for kpop is not as big as it was before. I dont know if it's just me or what but kpop is just getting worse gradually. I like the old hype and to SMent please bring me the old TVXQ. I only keep updating about dramas and films as Korean's is sooooo good now. Their dramas really improve a lot compared to a few years back. Im still following Emercency Couple now, and trying to catch up with Beyond The Clouds (Full Sun) and next week Yoochun's drama Three Days is premiering!
PS: I just hope mom comes here again to celebrate my birthday together. Fingercrossed xx

Current updates.

This block is more relaxing than my previous block. After the ashes falling last Friday, finally today it's raining again. It feels like everything going back to like it used to be. Right before the catastrophe happened, it rained heavily everyday that I even got annoyed. After that happened, I kept praying for it to rain heavily but not even a single drop of rain fell down. Just hoping that the ashes are being swept by the rain so that everything's going to be clean again. This Sunday Im going to do some society contribution things with my organisation and Im so excited because last year I didnt get the chance to join since it happened to be on the same day of another activity in another organisation. For the Buddy Club, I still havent met up with my buddy yet. I also met another buddy from China and this makes me really happy. it's like you know you're the minority of mandarin-speaking Chinese and I meet someone who can speak chinese too yeay! Current addictive drama is Emergency Couple by Song Ji Hyo and Choi Jin Hyuk and the songs are Hikari e by Miwa and Koisuru no Fortune Cookies by AKB48. Have a nice day peeps!

This is the live accoustic version. The original version is the OST for dorama "Rich Man Poor Woman" theme song. Highly recommended!

Ashes yes.

As you might have know, Mount Kelud erupted a few days ago which was exactly on Valentine's Day and the ashes flew here even though the mount's location is in East Java. They said it may because of the wind's direction that's why in East java itself the ashes were not these much but it came here. Jogja became a dead town for the whole day and it was worse. I didnt know it'll be like this because when I woke up it's dark and I thought it was going to rain. People resumed the activities on Friday since the ashes keep falling for a few hours in the morning. It's still worse these 2 days because there's no rain at all where usually everyday it's raining heavily. Thanks God it's raining yesterday although for only about 30 minutes but at least the ashes have mixed with the rainpour. I just hope these days we get a heavy rain so that the ashes can be swept away.

Movie review: Montage (몽타주)

\

I should say Im TOO active in writing reviews these 2 weeks. ignore this I've just finished watching a korean film Montage, which is ridiculously good. This is a 2013 film and I've been searching for it for a long time. The genre is thriller and stars Uhm Jung Hwa as a mother whose daughter, Seo Jin, was kidnapped 15 years ago and died while the suspect is still around. Kim Sang Kyung stars as Detective Oh who was signed for this case and it'll reach the statue of limitation (SOL) in a few days. 5 days before the SOL, somebody put a flower in the crime scene where no one knew this place except the mother, detective, and police. Detective Oh try as fast as possible to search for the suspect using the evidence that's left. At last it reached the SOL and I thought it has ended but the story actually starts here. A few days later a similar case happens where a child was kidnapped while being left alone in the playground by her grandpa. The kidnapping style is reconstructed of what have happened 15 years ago and this time, the investigation team decides to search for Detective Oh since all the information in the secret room has been burnt. At the same time, mother is also searching for the suspect by her own using the evidence they found a few days before reaching the SOL. In the beginning of the movie, we're served with a scene in a highway where the mother is inside the car with her head being wrapped with a plastic bag and the next scene is the detective having an accident in not far from her car. I was confused with this at first but as it flows, you'll finally connect to the what happened in the first scene. I enjoy this movie from the beginning till end and the satisfying ending is indeed a plus point for me. I was thrilled all the time, especially for the twist in the middle of the story which I didnt predict it at all. Uhm Jung Hwa is way too good in performing as a mother who has suffered for 15 years because of her daughter's death and her kidnapper is still not being caught. I've watched her movies before where mostly she starred in romance movies. This is my first time watching Kim Sang Kyung's acting and he's freaking good. Montage didnt disappoint me where sometimes korean movies had a great storyline but the ending ruined everything.

Score: 8/10

Synopsis:
A kidnapper disappeared 15 years ago without a trace. Five days before the case's statute of limitations expires, someone anonymously leaves a flower at the crime scene. A few days later, another kidnapping takes place using the same method on a similar target. Three people team up to solve the case before it's too late: the grandfather (Song Young-chang), who lost his granddaughter right in front of him, the mother (Uhm Jung-hwa), who has been searching for the person who abducted her daughter 15 years ago, and the detective with a guilty conscience (Kim Sang-kyung), who puts everything into this long-unsolved case.
