Drama review: Healer

Healer finally satisfied my craving for a good kdrama. This 20-episode drama ended last week but I didnt have time to make a review as soon as I finished watching it. First time watching a drama with ji Chang Wook as the lead, Im really happy that he reached my expectation and definitely the most suitable one to act as Healer. Park Minyoung acts as his lover here, and to be honest she's not my favorite actress but she changed all my perception towards her through this character. Healer is a person who is known as a night courier; he works for money as his goal is to buy an island in South Pacific. Anything as long as it doesnt kill or harm other people. He works with a genius programmer ajuhma and she's the one who helps him in doing his jobs. No one knows who Healer is; he is good at changing names and personalities. Fighting is one of his best abilities and that's also why he becomes the fugitive. Park Minyoung is Chae Young Shin, an entertainment news reporter in an online website and she tries hard to make a hit through her article. She has a childhood trauma which makes her couldnt talk in the past. Met him for the first time because an agent requested Healer to get something from her, she adores him because of his mysterious personality. The drama also involves the mystery from 20 years ago connecting Healer (his real name is Seo Jung Hoo) and Young Shin and also the reasons of their parents' death. JCW did an awesome job portraying Healer; he can be serious at one time and then becomes hilarious in the next time. No doubt this drama needs stuntman because its genre is action romance and involves lots of jumping from one rooftop to another. I still remembered before this drama premiered and they released official pics; I was confused why JCW needed to wear those costumes and jumped here and there. It was all answered after I watched the first episode. Park Minyoung is also an exception. I never really liked her in her previous dramas because she was just a mediocre. Im surprised to find out she cut her hair short for this drama and it really changed her image. Maybe this is what called as "the right time with the right person" because I think the character is very ordinary but she is able to pull it out. Two other characters I love are programmer ajuhma and Young Shin's adopt father. Ajuhma is always able to hack everything and gives every information to Healer and the most awesome thing is how fast she can work. As for Youngshin's father, I like his warm and kind personality. I cried when he and Youngshin flashed back to the time he met her in the orphanage and she still didnt talk to anyone. He tried very hard to make her like him but in an unusual way where he came to the orphanage everyday and talked to her without asking her to response. So he just talked about his stories everyday till Youngshin opened her heart to him. This really touched me. It was pretty disappointed they got low ratings despite their huge international popularity. Nowadays rating doesnt summarise about a drama or reality show as you can see in Running Man too. This drama is very recommended if you like something fresh and out of the box; totally awesome. Ah now I miss this drama again.

Drama review: 恋恋不忘 (Loving, Never Forgetting)

It's been a long time since the last time I reviewed a drama and this time it's a cdrama. Actually sometimes I prefer cdrama to tdrama, mainly because they have a wide range of genres where tdrama is too typical and mostly have a similar storyline. Another thing is cdrama always gives a longer trailer, usually about 15 minutes which let us know more about the drama. Loving Never Forgetting has ended few months ago and starred Jerry Yan and Tong Liya as the main leads. Jerry as Li Zhong Mou, a successful businessman with a cold heart and has no father. Tong Liya as Wu Tong, an ordinary woman who has a child from Zhong Mou as a result of their one night stand 5 years ago but at that time she's just like another girl in his life and he didnt even recognise her. As if it's already fated, he met his child, Wu Tong Tong, in an accident without knowing the truth and Tong Tong needed a blood transfusion. After realising the truth, he requested for a custody to take care of Tong Tong since he didnt want Tong Tong to be like him, growing without a father's love. Besides, his mom kept persuading him to get married as soon as possible. Basically the story flows from the custody and some problems, until then he realised he has fallen for Wu Tong where actually Wu Tong still love him like how she used to be 5 years ago. I have put this drama on my list ever since I saw the news of it a few months ago and if you watch cdrama regularly you know that they usually air 2-3 episodes per day and the drama ends pretty fast unlike kdrama which only airs 2 episodes per week. Based on my search, they said this drama's genre is 孽恋 (nie lian) which means tortured love where it involves screaming, pulling, pushing, angry kissing, and something like that. Aside from that, Jerry Yan and Tong Liya are probably my main reason why I decided to watch this drama. Everybody knows Jerry because of his mega popular character Dao Ming Se in Meteor Garden, but he's not my favorite. I just dont like him, either his hairstyle or his character. Once I saw him in this poster, I know that I would like him and yes I did. He suits perfectly as Li Zhong Mou and everything about him here is soooooooo lovable. If you remember Tong Liya, she's Yang Mi bestfriend in Gong (Jade Palace Lock Heart) which shot Yang Mi to stardom. She is gorgeous, and together with Jerry they make a really cute couple with strong chemistry. Both of them drive my emotion up and down, at first they hate each other and then they are really sweet together. Too bad Tong Liya has married last year which make my OTP shipping fails TT I really recommended this one because you wont see the lovey dovey cute scenes, as from the beginning it has been tense and how he realised he loves her is very natural. It tells more about a family, not only about the couple. It's even better if you understand chinese because cdrama rarely get subbed where actually you can find the complete episodes in raw version in youtube.

Rating: 8.5/10

Waking up from hiatus.

Yeay it's officially my holiday! Just finished my exam a few hours ago and like finally this burden has been lifted up. Im going back to my hometown tomorrow and I just realised it's been a month I didnt do any updates. Currently I only watch Pinocchio, which I like but I cant say it's an awesome piece. Other dramas on my list are Healer and Love not Forgetting. I didnt plan to watch Healer before, but after reading the recaps it attracted me that much. Tomorrow is Christmas, and Im going to do review once I finish watching dramas/films on my list. Merry christmas!
